Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 08-2572 November 26, 2008 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU GRANTS 700 MHz BAND LICENSES Auction Event No. 73 Report No. AUC-73 (Auction No. 73) On March 18, 2008, the Federal Communications Commission completed the auction of 1,099 licenses in the 698-806 MHz Band (“700 MHz Band”) (Auction No. 73).1 After a preliminary review of the FCC long-form applications (FCC Form 601), the applications listed in Attachment A to this Public Notice were accepted for filing.2 Upon further review, we find that the applications listed in Attachment A are complete and conform to the Commission’s rules.3 Furthermore, the Commission has received full payment, as required by Section 1.2109(a) of its rules,4 for the licenses listed in Attachment A.5 Accordingly, by this Public Notice, we announce the grant of the licenses listed in Attachment A.6 We grant these licenses pursuant to Section 309(a) of the Communications Act, 47 U.S.C. § 309(a), and section 0.331 of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. § 0.331, because it will serve the public interest, convenience, and necessity.7 1 Auction of 700 MHz Band Licenses Closes; Winning Bidders Announced for Auction 73, Public Notice, 23 FCC Rcd 4572 (WTB 2008). 2 See Wireless Telecommunications Bureau Announces that Applications for 700 MHz Band Licenses are Accepted for Filing, Public Notice, 23 FCC Rcd 6722 (WTB 2008). 3 With respect to the applications of Union Telephone Company and Cellco Partnership d/b/a Verizon Wireless (“Verizon Wireless”), we note that the Commission released an Order on November 13, 2008, finding that the public interest would be served if these applications are granted, subject to certain conditions.
