Washington, D.C. 20554 DA 08-780 April 1, 2008 PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ACTION REGION 42 (VIRGINIA) PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEES TO HOLD 700 MHz and 800 MHz NPSPAC REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLANNING MEETINGS PR Docket No. 91-300 The Region 42 (Virginia)1 Public Safety Regional Planning Committees will hold two meetings on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at the Sheraton Virginia Beach Oceanfront Hotel, 3501 Atlantic Avenue, Virginia Beach, Virginia. Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the 700 MHz Public Safety Regional Planning Committee will convene to review and discuss the status of the 700 MHz Region 42 plan. Beginning at 2:00 p.m., the 800 MHz NPSPAC Regional Planning Committee will convene to review and discuss the status of the 800 MHz Rebanding Process, and the restrictions on the receipt and processing of new applications for requesting Post-Rebanded 800 MHz NPSPAC frequencies. Currently, Region 42 will only consider acceptance and/or processing of Special Temporary Authority applications for Pre-Rebanded 800 MHz NPSPAC frequencies as specified by FCC public notice and guidelines. Both Region 42 Public Safety Regional Planning Committee meetings are open to the public. All eligible public safety providers whose sole or principal purpose is to protect the safety of life, health, or property in Region 42 may utilize these frequencies. It is essential that public safety agencies in all areas of government, including state, municipality, county, and Native American Tribal, and non-governmental organizations eligible under Section 90.523 of the Commission’s rules, be represented in order to ensure that each agency’s future spectrum needs are considered in the allocation process. Administrators who are not oriented in the communications field should delegate someone with this knowledge to attend, participate, and represent their agency’s needs. All interested parties wishing to participate in the planning for the use of public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands within Region 42 should plan to attend.
