PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ANNOUNCES
REGION 8 (NEW YORK – METROPOLITAN AREA) PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL 
PLANNING COMMITTEES TO HOLD 700 MHZ REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLANNING 
AND 800 MHZ NPSPAC REGIONAL PUBLIC SAFETY PLANNING MEETINGS

The Region 8 (New York – Metropolitan area)1 Public Safety Regional Planning Committees 
(RPCS) will hold two consecutive planning meetings on Tuesday, June 9, 2009.  Beginning at 10:00 a.m., 
the 700 MHz Public Safety Regional Planning Committee will convene at the Rockland County Fire 
Training Center, 35 Firemen’s Memorial Drive, Pomona, New York.
The agenda for the 700 MHz meeting includes:
§ Review and approval of the June 9, 2009 meeting agenda
§ Review and approval of the February 24, 2009 meeting report
§ Interoperability (SIEC Reports)
o New York State (Vincent Stiles, Travis LePage)
o New Jersey (Jody Nestor)
§ Working Group activities:
o 4.9 GHz Working Group (Felix Melendez)
o 700 MHz Working Group (Travis LePage) 
o Update - Region 8 700 MHz plan approval
o RPC/Interoperability 8 Committee Technical Subcommittee
o Review of March 10, 2009 teleconference
o Listing of past members serving on the technical subcommittee
o Schedule workshop in preparation for upcoming 700 MHz application submissions

Immediately following the 700 MHz Public Safety Regional Planning Committee meeting, the 
800 MHz Public Safety Regional Planning Committee will convene at the same location.

Nassau, Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond, Rockland, Suffolk, Sullivan, Ulster, Dutchess, and Westchester; and

Both of the Region 8 Public Safety RPC meetings are open to the public.  It is essential that 
public safety agencies in all areas of government, including state, municipality, county, and Native 
American Tribal, and non-governmental organizations eligible under Section 90.523 of the 
Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. § 90.523, be represented in order to ensure that each agency’s future 
spectrum needs are considered in the allocation process.  Administrators who are not oriented in the 
communications field should delegate someone with this knowledge to attend, participate, and represent 
their agency’s needs.  
All interested parties wishing to participate in the planning for the use of public safety spectrum 
in the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands within Region 8 should plan to attend.  For further information,
