On April 7, 2009, the Commission adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in the Matter of 
Policies to Promote Rural Radio Service and to Streamline Allotment and Assignment Procedures.1 The 
Rural Radio NPRM was released April 20, 2009.  The Commission sought comment on a number of 
proposals designed to promote radio service in rural and tribal areas, and to streamline or clarify certain 
assignment and allotment procedures.  The Rural Radio  NPRM set deadlines for filing comments and 
reply comments at 60 and 90 days, respectively, after publication of the Rural Radio NPRM in the Federal 
Register.2
By this Public Notice, the Media Bureau announces that the Rural Radio NPRM was published in 
the Federal Register on May 13, 2009.3 Comments must be submitted no later than Monday, July 13, 
2009.  Reply Comments must be submitted no later than Tuesday, August 11, 2009.  Commenters should 
follow the filing instructions provided in paragraphs 52 to 55 of the Rural Radio NPRM.4 The Rural 
Radio NPRM is also available on the Commission’s website.5
