On August 31, 2009, the Policy Branch granted, with conditions,  XM Radio Inc.'s request for authority to launch and operate the  XM-5 space
station at the 85.2° W.L. orbital location.  XM-5 will operate as an in-orbit spare for both the Sirius and XM Radio SDARS systems in the
2320-2345 MHz (space-to-Earth) and 7025-7075 MHz (Earth-to-space) frequency bands.
