On November 25, 2005, Texas Instruments, Inc. (“TI”) filed a motion to extend the deadline for responding to a request for waiver of the Commission’s rule that requires cable operators to include an IEEE 1394 interface on all high definition set-top boxes.1 TI seeks a ten-day extension of the November 30, 2009 deadline for filing oppositions, to take into account that the deadline for responding to Intel’s waiver request falls on the Monday immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. 2. Motions for extensions of time are not routinely granted.2 Nevertheless, we do occasionally grant limited extensions of time when we find that the public interest would be served by doing so. In this case, we believe that granting TI’s motion is in the public interest. Given that the Thanksgiving holiday effectively shortened the normal time for filing comments, and that the requested extension will not interfere with the Commission’s ability to timely consider the waiver request, we find that a modest ten-day extension is appropriate. Parties therefore have until Thursday, December 10, 2009 to file comments and until Monday, December 21, 2009 to file reply comments. 3. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED that, pursuant to Sections 4(i), 4(j) and 5(c) of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. §§ 154(i), 154(j) and 155(c), and Sections 0.61, 0.283, and 1.46 of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. §§ 0.61, 0.283, and 1.46, the date for filing 1 See Texas Instruments, Inc.’s Motion for Extension of Time, CS Docket No. 97-80 (filed Nov. 18, 2009) (citing Media Bureau Seeks Comment on Intel’s Request for Waiver of the IEEE-1394 Output Requirement, Public Notice, CS Docket No. 97-80/CSR- . 2 See 47 C.F.R. § 1.46(a).
