PUBLIC NOTICE Federal Communications Commission 445 12th St., S.W. Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 10-1082 Released: June 17, 2010 MEDIA BUREAU ANNOUNCES THE MODIFICATION OF THE TELEVISION INTERFERENCE ANALYSIS PROGRAM In its DTV Report and Order in MB Docket No. 07-91, the Commission adopted rules and procedures for Post-Transition interference standards and analysis methodology when processing applications. 1 The Commission stated that for approximately a year after lifting the filing freeze, we would protect all stations’ DTV Allotment Table Appendix B facilities, after which we would protect each station’s new DTV Allotment Table Appendix B facilities’ coverage only until the station had a CP or license for its post-transition operation, at which time we will limit its interference protection to its authorized coverage area. By Public Notice, on June 20, 2008, the freeze was lifted on the filing of digital maximization applications.2 Accordingly, going forward, the DTV Allotment Table Appendix B facilities will no longer be protected. Thus, the Commission’s interference analysis program has been revised to exclude the Appendix B facilities from the analysis, except that they will continue to be used for determining baseline service and interference populations. Furthermore, the revision of the interference analysis program includes use of the vertical radiation pattern established by LPTV Report and Order for Digital and Analog Class A television stations.3 For additional information, contact Kevin Harding or Hossein Hashemzadeh of the Video Division of the Media Bureau at (202) 418-1600. 1 See Third Periodic Review of the Commission’s Rules and Policies Affecting the Conversion to Digital Television, MB Docket No. 07-91, Report and Order, 23 FCC Rcd 2994 (2007). 2 See Public Notice, “Commission Lifts the Freeze on the filing of Maximization Applications and Petitions for Digital Channel Substitutions, Effective Immediately,” 23 FCC Rcd 8330 (2008). 3 See Amendment of Parts 73 and 74 of the Commission’s Rules to Establish Rules for Digital Low Power Television, Television Translator, and television Booster Stations and to Amend Rules for Digital Class A Television Stations, MB Docket No. 03-185, Report and Order, 19 FCC Rcd 19331 (2004).
