FCC STAFF TO HOLD MEETING TO DISCUSS RESIDENTIAL 
FIXED BROADBAND SERVICES TESTING AND MEASURMENT SOLUTION
CG Docket No. 09-158, CC Docket No. 98-179, WC Docket No. 04-36
The FCC is developing more accurate and comprehensive information on broadband data speeds 
throughout the United States.  The Omnibus Broadband Initiative previously announced a 
proposal to undertake an effort to measure performance rates for fixed Internet broadband service, 
and sought comment on a proposed methodology.1  
Commission staff from the Consumer and Government Affairs Bureau and the Office of 
Engineering and Technology will hold an open meeting with subject experts and service 
providers to discuss technical methods for performance testing of residential fixed Internet 
service and procedures to remotely acquire and analyze such data.  The meeting will take place at 
10am on July 28, 2010, in the 2nd Floor South Conference Room (2-B516) at 445 12th Street SW, 
Washington, DC 20554.  Parties please note that the meeting room has been changed from the 
previously announced 7th Floor North Conference Room (7-A112).
