PUBLIC NOTICE Federal Communications Commission 445 12th St., S.W. Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 10-2198 Released: November 18, 2010 ENHANCEMENTS TO SPECTRUM DASHBOARD LAUNCHED As of today, the FCC’s Spectrum Dashboard is no longer “beta” and includes several enhancements. In conjunction with the National Broadband Plan, the “beta” version of the Spectrum Dashboard was released on March 16, 2010, and represented an important step toward increased transparency into how radio spectrum is being used in the United States.1 The Commission has continued since that time to solicit public input on means to improve and augment the beta release of this tool, including through a workshop conducted in May, a presentation at the Commission’s July open meeting, and an online user feedback questionnaire. Today’s enhancements are the first in a series that will be announced over the next several months that are responsive to public input. Going forward, we will continue to build the functionality of the Spectrum Dashboard. Enhancements Available Today 1) An “Advanced Search.” The Advanced Search replaces the “License Categories” search and includes several different search criteria located at the same place, including the ability to search for licenses by channel block. 2) Auto Complete for Name Search. The auto complete function allows a user to search by a name and the Spectrum Dashboard will display all names that include the string of letters/characters entered. 3) Changes to Filters. The filters have been enhanced to allow a user to open and close filters, as they deem appropriate, and to include an additional filter for channel blocks. 4) Downloading Results. When a user downloads results by clicking on the “Export Results” link, the results will download automatically if the results are 65,000 rows or less. If the results are more than 65,000 rows a user will receive an e-mail when the results are available. Enhancements Available Over the Next Several Months 1) Leasing Data. Leasing information will be added that will allow a user to view data on where spectrum has been leased, the amount of spectrum leased, and the identity of the lessee. 2) Tribal Lands. Improvements, including a tribal land search, that will make it easier for a user to identify licenses that cover tribal lands. 1 “Spectrum Dashboard Launched in Beta,” Public Notice, DA 10-475 (rel. Mar. 19, 2010). 2 3) Maps. The appearance of the maps will be enhanced as well the ability for a user to incorporate third- party data into the maps. 4) APIs. Application Program Interfaces (APIs) will be included to allow third parties to more easily access data.
