ANNOUNCES COMMENT DEADLINES FOR 
“CRAMMING” NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING

Reply Comments Due:  November 21, 2011
On July 12, 2011, the Commission released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment 
on various proposals designed to assist consumers in detecting and preventing the placement of 
unauthorized charges on their telephone bills, an unlawful and fraudulent practice commonly referred to 
as “cramming.”1  
As stated in the Notice, the comment and reply comment deadlines for the Notice are 60 days and 
90 days, respectively, after publication of the Notice in the Federal Register. A summary of the Notice 
was published in the Federal Register on August 23, 2011.2 Therefore, comments will be due on or 
before October 24, 2011, and reply comments will be due on or before November 21, 2011.  
Submissions should be filed in accordance with the instructions provided in the Notice.
