Washington, D.C. 20554 DA 11-1693 October 7, 2011 PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ANNOUNCES REGION 53 (TEXAS-SAN ANTONIO) 700 MHZ PUBLIC SAFETY REGIONAL PLANNING COMMITTEE TO HOLD MEETINGS IN NOVEMBER AND DECEMBER 2011 The Region 53 (Texas-San Antonio)1 Public Safety Regional Planning Committees (RPCs) will hold two planning meetings. § Thursday, November 3, 2011, the 700 MHz Public Safety RPC will convene beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Coastal Bend Council of Governments, 2910 Leopard Street, Corpus Christi, Texas. A block of hotel rooms have been reserved under “Region 53” and are available at $88 per night, the Omni Bayfront Hotel 900 N. Shoreline Drive, telephone (361) 880-6738, and the Omni Marina Hotel at 707 N. Shoreline Drive, (361) 887-1600. To obtain the negotiated rate reservations should be made no later than Friday, October 28th. § Thursday, December 8, 2011, the 700 MHz Public Safety RPC will convene beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the Alamo Area Council of Governments, 8700 Tesoro, San Antonio, Texas. All eligible public safety providers in Region 53 may utilize these frequencies. It is essential that eligible public safety agencies in all areas of government, including state, municipality, county, and Native American Tribal be represented in order to ensure that each agency’s future spectrum needs are considered in the allocation process. Administrators who are not oriented in the communications field should delegate someone with this knowledge to attend, participate, and represent their agency’s needs. All interested parties wishing to participate in planning for the use of public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz band within Region 53 should plan to attend.
