Federal Communications Commission DA 12-1048 Before the Federal Communications Commission Washington, DC 20554 In the Matter of Lifeline and Link Up Reform and Modernization ) ) ) ) ) ) WC Docket No. 11-42 ORDER Adopted: June 29, 2012 Released: June 29, 2012 By the Chief, Wireline Competition Bureau: 1. In this order, we grant a request for a limited extension of time filed by Hopi Telecommunications, Inc. (Hopi), a Tribally-owned eligible telecommunications carrier (ETC) serving the Hopi Reservation, to submit an application to participate in the Commission’s broadband adoption pilot program for low-income consumers (Pilot Program).1 2. Hopi seeks a 10 to 14 day extension of time to submit an application to participate in the Pilot Program.2 Hopi claims that it lost valuable time in preparing its application due to protracted efforts to retain an outside consultant.3 3. In recognition of the unique challenges facing Tribally-owned ETCs, the Commission’s direction to the Wireline Competition Bureau to select at least one pilot project directed at providing support on Tribal lands, and Hopi’s strong desire to participate in the Pilot, we find that there is good cause to grant Hopi a one week extension of time until Monday, July 9, 2012 to file an application to participate in the Pilot Program.4 4. ACCORDINGLY, IT IS ORDERED, pursuant to the authority contained in sections 1-4 and 254 of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, 47 U.S.C. §§ 151-154 and 254, and sections 0.91, 0.291, 1.3 and 54.722(a) of the Commission’s rules, 47 C.F.R. §§ 0.91, 0.291, 1.3 and 54.722(a), 1 See generally Hopi Telecommunications, Inc.
