Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 12-1085 Released: July 6, 2012 FCC ANNOUNCES TERMINATION OF THE TECHNICAL ADVISORY BOARD FOR FIRST RESPONDER INTEROPERABILITY PS Docket 12-74 Washington, DC – This Public Notice serves as notice that, pursuant to Section 6203(f) of the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012 (Spectrum Act),1 the Technical Advisory Board for First Responder Interoperability (Interoperability Board) terminates effective today, July 6, 2012, by operation of law. The Spectrum Act, passed in February 2012, established the Interoperability Board to develop recommended minimum technical requirements to ensure a nationwide level of interoperability for the nationwide public safety broadband network. On May 22, 2012, the Interoperability Board submitted its recommendations to the Federal Communications Commission (the Commission), and on June 21, 2012, the Commission approved the transmittal of these recommendations to the First Responder Network Authority. Section 6203(f) of the Spectrum Act provides that the Interoperability Board will terminate fifteen days after this transmittal, i.e., on July 6, 2012.2 In light of the Board’s termination, we also hereby terminate the docketed proceeding, PS Docket 12-74, that was established to enable the Interoperability Board to collect and exchange information during the process of developing its recommendations.
