S2232SAT-STA-20120601-00093 E Effective Date: 06/12/2012Grant of Authority Special Temporary Authority EchoStar Satellite Operating Corporation On June 12, 2012, the Satellite Division granted, with conditions, special temporary authority for a period of 60 days to EchoStar Corporation to continue to provide Direct Broadcast Satellite service via EchoStar 6 at 76.95° W.L. using the 17.3-17.8 GHz (Earth-to-space) and 12.2-12.7 GHz (space-to-Earth) frequency bands. The Division also granted EchoStar authority to continue to operate on-station telemetry, tracking, and control for EchoStar 6 at 76.95° W.L. using center frequencies of 12.203 GHz (space-to-Earth), 12.204 GHz (space-to-Earth), and 17.305 GHz (Earth-to-space). Page 2 of 3 INFORMATIVE: On January 14, 2009, Satellite Division authorized Intelsat Licensee LLC (formerly PanAmSat Licensee Corp.) to operate the Intelsat 2 space station (Call Sign S2459) at the 169.10° W.L. orbital location using, among other frequencies, the 12.25-12.75 GHz and 14.25-14.50 GHz frequency bands. See IBFS File No. SAT-MOD-20080811-00153, granted Jan. 14, 2009. In June 2010, Intelsat relocated Intelsat 2 from 169.10° W.L. to 157° E.L. and subsequently de-orbited the spacecraft in March 2011. See IBFS File No. SAT-STA-20110112-00011. Intelsat is not operating, nor does it indicate any intent to operate, another satellite that uses the 12.25-12.75 GHz or 14.25-14.50 GHz frequency bands at this location. See Supplement to Request for Special Temporary Authority, IBFS File No. SAT-STA-20100330-00059 (filed June 25, 2010). Accordingly, the 14.25-14.50 GHz and 12.25-12.75 GHz frequency bands at the 169.10° E.L. orbital location are now available for reassignment pursuant to the Commission's first-come, first-served licensing process effective 2:00 p.m. EDT on Tuesday, June 19, 2012. At that time, applicants may file applications for new space stations, market access by non-U.S. licensed space stations, modifications to licensed space stations, or amendments to pending applications taking this announcement into account. Applications for the spectrum filed prior to this date and time will be dismissed as premature without prejudice to re-filing. ________________________ For more information concerning this Notice, contact the Satellite Division at 202-418-0719; TTY 202-418-2555.
