Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 13-2018 September 30, 2013 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU AND OFFICE OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY ANNOUNCE WORKSHOP ON THE PROPOSED SPECTRUM ACCESS SYSTEM FOR THE 3.5 GHZ BAND GN Docket No. 12-354 In December 2012, the Federal Communications Commission adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) that proposed to make at least 100 megahertz of spectrum available for shared small cell use in the 3550-3650 MHz band (3.5 GHz Band). 1 The NPRM proposed the creation of a dynamic Spectrum Access System (SAS) to govern interactions between and among devices in the 3.5 GHz band. The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) and Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) will host a workshop on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 beginning at 9:00AM to further explore the technical requirements, architecture, and operational parameters of the SAS. In the coming weeks, WTB and OET intend to release a Public Notice outlining the scope of the workshop and encouraging parties to develop detailed technical papers addressing specific technical issues related to the operation of the SAS prior to the workshop. WTB and OET will release a full agenda prior to the workshop. Attendance. This workshop is open to the public, and will be held in the Commission Meeting Room at FCC Headquarters, located at 445 12 th Street, SW, Room TW-C305, Washington, DC 20554 . All attendees are advised to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the workshop to allow time to go through our security process.
