1PUBLIC NOTICE FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION News Media Information: (202) 418-0500 445 12th STREET, S.W. Internet: http://www.fcc.gov WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 13-2048 Released: October 23, 2013 PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU CLARIFIES THAT THE OCTOBER 29, 2013 DATE OPENING A FILING WINDOW FOR ADDITIONAL CHANNELS VACATED BY SPRINT CORPORATION REMAINS UNCHANGED Application Filing May Commence on October 29, 2013 WT Docket No. 02-55 The Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) clarifies that the October 29, 2013 date for applicants to begin filing applications for vacated channels made available by Public Notice DA 13-2004 (released Sept. 30, 2013) remains unchanged.1 On this date, the Bureau will begin accepting applications for facilities on the channels made available by Public Notice DA 13-2004. The Bureau announced on September 30, 2013 that it would be updating the Vacated Channel Search Engine (VCSE) with additional channels released by Sprint Corporation (Sprint) in the 809- 815/854-860 MHz (Channels 231- 470) portion of the 800 MHz band.2 The Bureau indicated that, beginning on October 29, 2013, Commission-certified frequency coordinators may file applications on behalf of eligible applicants for channels newly made available in the VCSE.3 Although the Commission released a Public Notice on October 17, 2013 stating that certain filing deadlines between October 17 and November 4 would be delayed until November 4, 2013 because of the recent government-wide lapse in funding during which the Commission suspended normal operations, the October 17, 2013 Public Notice does not apply to the October 29, 2013 date for filing applications for vacated channels .4 The October 29, 2013 date is for the opening of a filing window; not a filing deadline contemplated by the October 17, 2013 Public Notice. Therefore, channels newly made available in the VCSE by Public Notice DA 13-2004 will continue to list October 29, 2013 as the availability date in the “Channel Availability” field. 1 See Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau Announces the Opening of a Filing Window for Additional Records Vacated by Sprint Corporation in the 809-815/854-860 MHz Band Segment, Public Notice, DA 13-2004 (rel.
