Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 13-2064 October 18, 2013 CONSUMER AND GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS BUREAU ANNOUNCES DATES FOR COMMENTS AND REPLY COMMENTS TO REFRESH THE RECORD REGARDING “CRAMMING” CG Docket Nos. 11-116, 09-158; CC Docket No. 98-170 Comment Date: November 18, 2013 Reply Comment Date: December 2, 2013 On August 27, 2013, the Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (Bureau) released a Public Notice in CG Docket No. 11-116 and 09-158 and CC Docket No. 98-170 (Public Notice).1 In the Public Notice, the Bureau sought comment to refresh the record on cramming, the unlawful and fraudulent practice of placing unauthorized charges on telephone bills, in light of developments and additional evidence related to wireline and wireless cramming since the Federal Communications Commission issued its April 2012 Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. The Public Notice set the comment and reply comment due dates at 45 days and 60 days after publication in the Federal Register, respectively. A summary of the Public Notice was published in the Federal Register on October 3, 2013, triggering the cycle for comments and reply comments.2 Accordingly, interested parties may file comments on or before November 18, 2013 and reply comments on or before December 2, 2013. This matter shall be treated as a “permit-but-disclose” proceeding in accordance with the Commission’s ex parte rules.3 Persons making oral ex parte presentations are reminded that memoranda summarizing the presentations must contain summaries of the substance of the presentations and not merely a listing of the subjects discussed.
