Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 13-2225 Released: November 20, 2013 FCC ANNOUNCES MEETING OF THE COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY, RELIABILITY, AND INTEROPERABILITY COUNCIL SCHEDULED FOR DECEMBER 4, 2013, AT FCC HEADQUARTERS By this Public Notice, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission), consistent with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA),1 announces that the FCC’s Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC or Council) will meet on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, beginning at 1:00 p.m., in the Commission Meeting Room at FCC Headquarters, located at 445 12th Street, SW, Room TW-C305, Washington, DC 20554. The CSRIC is a federal advisory committee that will provide recommendations to the Commission regarding best practices and actions the Commission can take to help ensure security, reliability, and interoperability of commercial and public safety communications systems, including: (1) the reliability and security of communications systems and infrastructure; (2) 911, Enhanced 911 (E911), and Next Generation 911; and (3) emergency alerting. On March 19, 2013, the FCC, pursuant to the FACA, renewed the charter for the CSRIC for a period of two years through March 19, 2015.2 This is the second meeting under this CSRIC charter. At the meeting, each of the working groups will provide a progress report. Topics to be covered will include emergency alerting systems, 9-1-1 location accuracy, distributed denial-of-service, and cybersecurity best practices. There are no votes scheduled for this CSRIC meeting. Each of the ten CSRIC Working Groups is described in more detail at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/communications-security-reliability-and-interoperability- council-iv. Members of the general public may attend the meeting. The FCC will attempt to accommodate as many attendees as possible; however, admittance will be limited to seating availability.
