Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 13-775 Released: April 17, 2013 WIRELINE COMPETITION BUREAU RELEASES LIST OF STUDY AREA BOUNDARIES BEING FILED BY STATE COMMISSIONS WC Docket No. 10-90 WC Docket No. 05-337 The Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) has established requirements for the collection of study area boundary data from incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) or state commissions on their behalf.1 On March 18, 2013, the Bureau directed state commissions that intend to submit study area boundary data to file a notice of their intent to do so no later than April 12, 2013.2 Regulatory commissions from 12 states – Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Vermont, and Washington – filed such notifications that they plan to submit study area boundary data for some or all of the ILECs in their states. A complete list of the study area codes and corresponding ILECs for which these state commissions plan to submit study area boundary data is attached.3 These state commissions are required to submit and certify the data no later than June 28, 2013, using the Commission’s Study Area Boundary Data Collection State website at https://sab.fcc.gov/state/login/.4 ILECs serving study areas for which boundary data will not be submitted by a state commission are required to submit and certify data for their study area(s) no later than May 23, 2013, using the Commission’s Study Area Boundary Data Collection ILEC website at https://sab.fcc.gov/ilec/login/.5 In some cases, a state commission indicated that it plans to submit boundary data for a study area that crosses state lines and is partially located in a neighboring state. In such cases, the state commission may choose whether to submit and/or certify the accuracy of the boundary of the portion of the study area located outside of that commission’s state. Therefore, if that state commission does not submit and certify the accuracy of the boundary data for the portion of the study area that is located in the neighboring state, the ILEC serving that study area must submit and certify the boundary data for the 1 Connect America Fund; High-Cost Universal Service Support, WC Docket Nos. 10-90, 05-337, Report and Order, 27 FCC Rcd 13528 (Wireline Comp.
