Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 13 - 996 May 3, 2013 ENVIRONMENTAL AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMPLIANCE TRAINING FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF COMMUNICATIONS TOWERS AND THE COLLOCATION OF COMMUNICATIONS EQUIPMENT The FCC Wireless Telecommunications Bureau will host an educational workshop on the environmental compliance process required for the construction of all new communications towers and for the collocation of communications equipment on other structures. The workshop will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, from 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM EDT in the Commission Meeting Room at FCC Headquarters in Washington, DC. This workshop will focus particularly on the needs of public safety, transportation, and utility licensees. At the workshop, expert staff will provide guidance to the FCC’s licensees, those who construct communications facilities for FCC licensees, and their consultants on the following topics: the environmental notification process for Antenna Structure Registrations, National Environmental Policy Act compliance, Endangered Species Act compliance, and National Historic Preservation Act Section 106 compliance under the Nationwide Programmatic Agreement for Review of Effects on Historic Properties for Certain Undertakings Approved by the Federal Communications Commission. Among the topics to be discussed are the FCC’s expectations for the submittal of documentation to the FCC, State Historic Preservation Offices, and to Indian Tribes. Attendance. This workshop is open to the public. All attendees are advised to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the workshop to allow time to go through our security process.
