Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 14-1339 Released: September 16, 2014 FCC ANNOUNCES MEETING OF THE COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY, RELIABILITY, AND INTEROPERABILITY COUNCIL SCHEDULED FOR SEPTEMBER 24, 2014 AT FCC HEADQUARTERS By this Public Notice, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission), consistent with the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA),1 announces that the FCC’s Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC or Council) will meet on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, beginning at 1:00 p.m., in the Commission Meeting Room at FCC Headquarters, located at 445 12th Street, SW, Room TW-C305, Washington, DC 20554. The CSRIC is a federal advisory committee that provides recommendations to the Commission regarding best practices and actions the Commission can take to help ensure security, reliability, and interoperability of commercial and public safety communications systems, including: the reliability and security of communications systems and infrastructure; 911, Enhanced 911 (E911), and Next Generation 911; and emergency alerting. On March 19, 2013, the FCC, pursuant to the FACA, renewed the charter for the CSRIC for a period of two years through March 19, 2015.2 This is the fifth meeting of the Council under this CSRIC charter. At the meeting, each of the working groups will provide a progress report. Votes are scheduled on reports for Working Group (WG) 1 on Next Generation 911; WG 5 on Remediation of Server-Based DDoS Attacks; WG 6 on Long-Term Core Internet Protocol Improvements ; WG 7 on Legacy Best Practice Updates; and WG 10 on CPE Powering. Each of the ten CSRIC Working Groups is described in more detail at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/communications-security-reliability-and- interoperability-council-iv. Members of the general public may attend the meeting. The FCC will attempt to accommodate as many attendees as possible; however, admittance will be limited to seating availability.
