Beginning at 1:00 p.m., the 800 MHz Public Safety RPC will convene at the Grundy County Office of Emergency Management, 1320 Union Street, Morris, Illinois. The application submission deadline is September 1, 2014 for review at the October meeting. Applications may be submitted any time prior to that date. For the good of the Committee The 700 MHz Public Safety RPC meeting will convene immediately following the 800 MHz RPC meeting at the same location. FCC regulatory update 1 The Region 54 (Southern Lake Michigan) 700 MHz RPC encompasses counties in three states bordering Lake Michigan: Winnebago, McHenry, Cook, Kane, Kendall, Grundy, Boone, Lake, DuPage, DeKalb, Will, and Kankakee Counties, Illinois; Lake, LaPorte, Jasper, Starke, St. Joseph, Porter, Newton, Pulaski, Marshall, and Elkart Counties, Indiana; and Kenosha, Milwaukee, Washington, Dodge, Walworth, Jefferson, Racine, Rock, Walworth, Washington, and Waukesha Counties, Wisconsin. The Region 54 (Southern Lake Michigan) 800 MHz NPSPAC RPC includes the Michigan counties of Kent, Van Buren, Kalamazoo, Barry, Muskegon, Allegan, Berrien, Cass, and St. Joseph, in addition to all of the above-mentioned Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin counties. All eligible public safety providers in Region 54 may utilize these frequencies. It is essential that eligible public safety agencies in all areas of government, including state, municipality, county, and Native American Tribal be represented in order to ensure that each agency’s future spectrum needs are considered in the allocation process. Administrators who are not oriented in the communications field should delegate someone with this knowledge to attend, participate, and represent their agency’s needs. All interested parties wishing to participate in planning for the use of public safety spectrum in the 700 MHz and 800 MHz bands within Region 54 should plan to attend.
