PUBLIC NOTICE Federal Communications Commission 445 12th St., S.W. Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 15-321 Released: March 12, 2015 WIRELINE COMPETITION BUREAU EXTENDS THE FILING DEADLINE FOR STUDY AREA BOUNDARY CHANGES TO MARCH 23, 2015 AND SETS RECERTIFICATION DATE OF MAY 26, 2015 WC Docket No. 10-90 WC Docket No. 05-337 The Wireline Competition Bureau hereby extends the deadline for incumbent local exchange carriers (ILECs) to file updated study area boundary data if any changes were made to their study area boundary or boundaries during the previous calendar year to March 23, 2015.1 The deadline for submitting changes that occurred during 2014 is March 16, 2015.2 However, because the Study Area Boundary Data Collection interface (at https://sab.fcc.gov/ilec/login/) was experiencing technical difficulties that were not resolved until today, we are extending the deadline. Filers can now submit and certify shapefiles using the interface. In addition to the obligation to submit updated information when study area boundaries change, all ILECs are required to recertify their study area boundary data every two years.3 Because the original deadline for ILECs to submit study area boundary data was May 23, 2013,4 the recertification deadline will be May 26, 2015. We are currently working to upgrade the data collection interface to allow for a simple recertification of data and will provide filers with additional information once this upgrade is completed. Additional information on the FCC’s study area boundary data collection can be found online at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/study-area-boundary-data-collection. For additional information on this proceeding, please contact Chelsea Fallon at Chelsea.Fallon@fcc.gov or (202) 418-7991, or John Emmett at John.Emmett@fcc.gov or (202) 418-0386. - FCC - 1 Connect America Fund; High-Cost Universal Service Support, WC Docket Nos. 10-90, 05-337, Report and Order, 27 FCC Rcd 13528, 13535, para. 23 (Wireline Comp. Study area boundaries can change as the result of: a boundary overlap resolution; a transaction involving the addition or sale of exchanges; new deployment into previously-unserved areas, such as a new housing subdivision; or an incumbent LEC relinquishing its ETC designation and no longer being obligated to serve an area as a carrier of last resort. 2 Id. 3 Id. 4 Wireline Competition Bureau Announces Procedures and Deadlines for Submissions of Study Area Boundaries, WC Docket Nos. 10-90, 05-337, Public Notice, 28 FCC Rcd 2852, 2853 (Wireline Comp.
