Washington, D.C. 20554 News Media Information 202 / 418-0500 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov TTY: 1-888-835-5322 DA 17-233 Released: March 8, 2017 PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU SEEKS COMMENT ON CORDOVA WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS, LLC PETITION FOR TEMPORARY WAIVER OF SECTION 20.18(i) OF THE COMMISSION’S RULES REGARDING INDOOR LOCATION ACCURACY REPORTING AND BENCHMARKS PS Docket No. 07-114 Comment Date: March 28, 2017 Reply Comment Date: April 12, 2017 By this Public Notice, the Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (Bureau) seeks comment from interested parties on the petition of Cordova Wireless Communications, LLC (Cordova Wireless) for temporary waiver of Section 20.18(i) of the Commission’s rules, filed on February 3, 2017.1 In its petition, Cordova Wireless states that the Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) operated by the City of Cordova, Alaska, is incapable of receiving and using indoor location data and Phase II Enhanced 911 (E911) location data.2 Cordova Wireless states that in light of this circumstance, requiring it to comply with Section 20.18(i) would lead to specific technical and financial hardships. Cordova Wireless therefore requests that the Commission waive the location accuracy requirements of Section 20.18(i), including reporting requirements, until the Cordova PSAP is capable of receiving and using Phase II E911 and indoor location data.3 Pursuant to sections 1.415 and 1.419 of the Commission’s rules, 47 CFR §§ 1.415, 1.419, interested parties may file comments and reply comments on or before the dates indicated above.
