MEDIA BUREAU ANNOUNCES EXTENDED COMMENT AND REPLY DEADLINES FOR THE REVISIONS TO CABLE TELEVISION RATE REGULATIONS FNPRM

On October 23, 2018, the Commission released a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) seeking comment on revisions to its cable television rate regulations. Modernization of Media Regulation Initiative: Revisions to Cable Television Rate Regulations, Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Report and Order, MB Docket Nos. 17-105, 02-144; MM Docket Nos. 92-266, 93-215; CS Docket Nos. 94-28, 96-157, FCC 18-148 (released October 23, 2018) (FNPRM and Report and Order).
  The Commission set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments in response to the FNPRM at 30 and 60 days, respectively, after publication of the FNPRM in the Federal Register. Id. at 1, para. 1.
  
A summary of the FNPRM was published in the Federal Register on November 27, 2018. 83 FR 60804 (November 27, 2018).
  Accordingly, comments would have been due on or before December 27, 2018, and reply comments on or before January 28, 2019.  However, because the original comment deadline fell between two federal holidays, the Media Bureau, sua sponte, and by Order on delegated authority, extended the Comment Date and Reply Comment Date by two weeks each to January 10, 2019 and February 11, 2019, respectively. See Order, DA 18-1204 (MB rel. November 27, 2018).
  Commenters should follow the filing instructions beginning with paragraph 52 of the FNPRM. See FNPRM and Report and Order at paras. 52-61. 	
  
In addition, the Commission released a companion Report and Order simultaneously with the FNPRM.  The Commission stated in the Report and Order that the final rules would be effective thirty days after publication in the Federal Register. See FNPRM and Report and Order at para. 63.
