PRTC requests a limited waiver of the Commission’s rules to allow an extension of time to comply with Sections 10.430 and 10.480 of the Commission’s rules. The Commission established May 1, 2019, as the deadline for commercial mobile service (CMS) providers that participate in the Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) system to deploy WEA messages that contain a maximum of 360 characters of alphanumeric text as well as Spanish-language Alert Messages. Wireless Emergency Alerts; Amendments to Part 11 of the Commission’s Rules Regarding the Emergency Alert System, PS Docket Nos. 15-91 and 15-94, Second Report and Order and Second Order on Reconsideration, 33 FCC Rcd 1320, ¶¶ 49-50 (2018). PRTC, a participating CMS provider, states that it needs an additional 180 days from May 1, 2019, to support these requirements. PRTC Waiver at 4. Pursuant to Sections 1.415 and 1.419 of the Commission’s rules, 47 CFR §§ 1.415, 1.419. interested parties may file comments on or before May 15, 2019 and reply comments on or before May 29, 2019.
