Federal Communications Commission "FCC/DA XX-XXX" DA 20-643 Released: June 19, 2020 Media Bureau Announces Federal Register Publication of Second Report and Order in Amendment of Section 73.3580 of the Commission’s Rules Regarding Public Notice of the Filing of Applications MB Docket Nos. 05-6, 17-105, 17-264 On May 13, 2020, the Commission released a Second Report and Order in its proceeding to modernize and revise the local public notice rules for broadcast application filings. Amendment of Section 73.3580 of the Commission’s Rules Regarding Public Notice of the Filing of Applications, Modernization of Media Regulation Initiative, Revision of the Public Notice Requirements of Section 73.3580, MB Docket Nos. 05-6, 17-105 17-264, Second Report and Order, FCC 20-65 (May 13, 2020) (Second R&O). The rule revisions streamline and standardize its requirements for on-air and written notice of applications. By this Public Notice, the Media Bureau announces that the Second R&O was published in the Federal Register on June 18, 2020, Amendment of Section 73.3580 of the Commission’s Rules Regarding Public Notice of the Filing of Applications; Modernization of Media Regulation Initiative; Revision of the Public Notice Requirements of Section 73.3580, 85 Fed. Reg. 36786 (June 18, 2020). and the Second R&O becomes effective 30 days thereafter, on July 20, 2020. The Bureau notes, however, that only the change to section 73.801 of the Commission’s rules, codifying the local public notice rule applicability to LPFM stations, will become effective on July 20, 2020. 47 CFR § 73.801. Changes to the other rules adopted in the Second R&O, specifically changes to sections 73.3525, 73.3526, 73.3527, 73.3571, 73.3573, 73.3580, and 73.3594, 47 CFR §§ 73.3525, 73.3526, 73.3527, 73.3571, 73.3573, 73.3580, and 73.3594. which contain new or modified information collection requirements that require approval by the Office of Management and Budget under the Paperwork Reduction Act, will become effective on the date specified in a notice published at a later date in the Federal Register announcing such approval.
