3-DIGIT SUICIDE PREVENTION AND MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS HOTLINE PROPOSAL

	On December 12, 2019, the Commission adopted the Suicide Prevention Hotline Notice of Proposed Rulemaking. Implementation of the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act of 2018 Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, WC Docket No. 18-336, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, FCC 19-128 (rel. Dec. 16, 2019) (Notice).  The Notice is available on the Commission’s website.  See https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/FCC-19-128A1.pdf.   
  In the Notice, the Commission seeks comment on its proposal to designate 988 as a simple, easy-to-remember, 3-digit dialing code for a national suicide prevention and mental health crisis hotline. Notice at paras. 25-32.
  The Notice set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 30 and 60 days after the date of publication of a summary of the Notice in the Federal Register. Id. at 1.
  The Federal Register published a summary of the Notice on January 15, 2020. Federal Communications Commission, Implementation of the National Suicide Hotline Improvement Act of 2018, 85 Fed.   Accordingly, comments will be due on or before February 14, 2020, and reply comments will be due on or before March 16, 2020.  Complete filing instructions are provided in the Notice and in the Federal Register Notice. See Notice at para. 63 and Federal Register Notice, 85 Fed. Reg. at 2368.
