Federal Communications Commission "FCC/DA XX-XXX" DA 20-979 August 28, 2020 FIRST MEETING OF THE 2020 INTERGOVERNMENTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE The first meeting of the FCC’s reauthorized Intergovernmental Advisory Committee (IAC) will be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. EDT, as a virtual meeting. IAC meetings are not open to the public. The IAC is not a federal advisory committee subject to the procedures set forth in the Federal Advisory Committee Act (FACA), see 5 U.S.C. App.2, because of an exemption provided under the Unfunded Mandates Reform Act (UMRA). See 2 U.S.C. § 1534(b). The UMRA exemption is intended to promote the free exchange of ideas between officials of the federal government and state, local and tribal governments (or their designated employees) on matters of common interest while meeting in closed sessions. The IAC provides guidance, expertise, and recommendations to the Commission on a range of communications issues for which local, state, and Tribal governments explicitly or inherently share responsibility or administration with the Commission.
