Federal Communications Commission "FCC/DA XX-XXX" DA 21-1007 Released: August 17, 2021 PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ANNOUNCES THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF RULES ADOPTED PURSUANT TO THE 911 FEE DIVERSION REPORT AND ORDER PS Docket Nos. 20-291 and 09-14 On June 25, 2021, the Federal Communications Commission (Commission) released a Report and Order (Report and Order) adopting rules that address the diversion of 911 fees by states and other jurisdictions. 911 Fee Diversion; New and Emerging Technologies 911 Improvement Act of 2008, Report and Order, FCC 21-80 (rel. June 25, 2021) (Report and Order). The adopted rules become effective 60 days after publication in the Federal Register. See Report and Order at para. 89. On August 17, 2021, the Office of the Federal Register published a summary of the Report and Order. 86 Fed. Reg. 45892 (Aug. 17, 2021). Accordingly, the rules adopted in the Report and Order will take effect on October 18, 2021. See 86 Fed. Reg. 45892. Paragraph (b) in new section 9.25 of the rules contains new or modified information collection requirements that are subject to review by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) under the Paperwork Reduction Act. See 47 CFR § 9.25(b), (c); see also Report and Order at para. 89; 86 Fed. Reg. 45892. Compliance with these requirements will not be required until the Commission receives OMB approval and publishes a document in the Federal Register announcing the compliance date.
