PUBLIC SAFETY AND HOMELAND SECURITY BUREAU ANNOUNCES 
COMMENT AND REPLY COMMENT DATES FOR THE FURTHER NOTICE OF PROPOSED RULEMAKING ON FEMA EAS RECOMMENDATIONS

	On June 17, 2021, the Federal Communications Commission adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on proposed rules to improve the Emergency Alert System (EAS). Amendment of Part 11 of the Commission’s Rules Regarding the Emergency Alert System; Wireless Emergency Alerts, PS Docket Nos. 15-94 and 15-91, Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, FCC 21-77 (June 17, 2021) (FNPRM). 
  The FNPRM seeks comment on potential improvements to the EAS recommended by the Federal Emergency Management Agency. See id. at 25-29, paras. 48-55.
  The FNPRM set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 60 and 90 days, respectively, after publication of a summary of the FNPRM in the Federal Register. See id..
  
On August 20, 2021, the Office of the Federal Register published a summary of the FNPRM, including the associated comment and reply comment dates. Federal Communications Commission, Emergency Alert System, Wireless Emergency Alerts; National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021, 86 FR 46804 (Aug. 20, 2021). 
  Accordingly, FNPRM comments must be filed on or before October 19, 2021, and reply comments must be filed on or before November 18, 2021.  The FNPRM contains the comment filing instructions. FNPRM at 29, paras. 56-57.
