Federal Communications Commission "FCC/DA XX-XXX" DA 21-1551 Released: December 13, 2021 COMMENT AND REPLY COMMENT DATES SET FOR ATSC 3.0 MULTICAST LICENSING FNPRM MB Docket No. 16-142 Comment Date: February 11, 2022 Reply Comment Date: March 14, 2022 On November 5, 2021, the Commission released a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking proposing changes to its Next Gen TV rules to allow Next Gen TV stations to include within their license certain of their non-primary video programming streams (multicast streams) that are aired in a different service on “host” stations during a transitional period, using the same licensing framework, and to a large extent the same regulatory regime, established for the simulcast of primary video programming streams on “host” station facilities. Authorizing Permissive Use of the “Next Generation” Broadcast Television Standard, GN Docket No. 16-142, Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, FCC 21-116 (rel. Nov. 5, 2021) (ATSC 3.0 Multicast Licensing FNPRM). The NPRM set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 60 and 90 days, respectively, after publication of the NPRM in the Federal Register. See id. at 1. By this Public Notice, the Media Bureau announces that the ATSC 3.0 Multicast Licensing FNPRM was published in the Federal Register on December 13, 2021. ATSC 3.0 Multicast Licensing FNPRM, 86 Fed. Reg. 70793 (Dec. 13, 2021). Comments must be submitted no later than February 11, 2022. Reply Comments must be submitted no later than March 14, 2022.
