Federal Communications Commission "FCC/DA XX-XXX" DA-21-30 Released: January 11, 2021 COMMENT AND REPLY COMMENT DATES SET FOR FM BROADCAST BOOSTER STATIONS NPRM MB Docket Nos. 20-401, 17-105 Comment Date: February 10, 2021 Reply Comment Date: March 12, 2021 On November 20, 2020, the Commission adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking in a proceeding to amend its rules governing the operation of FM booster stations. Amendment of Section 74.1231(i) of the Commission’s Rules on FM Broadcast Booster Stations, MB Docket Nos. 20-401, 17-105, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, FCC 20-166 (Nov. 20, 2020) (NPRM). The NPRM was released on December 1, 2020. The Commission sought comment on enabling FM broadcasters to use FM booster stations to air geo-targeted content independent of the signals of its primary station within different portions of the primary station’s protected service contour for a limited period of time during the broadcast hour. The NPRM set deadlines for filing comments and reply comments at 30 and 60 days, respectively, after publication of the NPRM in the Federal Register. Id. at 1. By this Public Notice, the Media Bureau announces that the NPRM was published in the Federal Register on January 11, 2021. FM Broadcast Booster Stations; Modernization of Media Initiative, 86 Fed. Reg. 1909 (Jan. 11, 2021). Comments must be submitted no later than February 10, 2021. Reply comments must be submitted no later than March 12, 2021.
