Federal Communications Commission DA 22-214 DA 22-214 Released: March 2, 2022 WIRELINE COMPETITION BUREAU ANNOUNCES THE DUE DATE FOR RESPONSES TO THE COMMISSION’S INMATE CALLING SERVICES THIRD MANDATORY DATA COLLECTION WC Docket No. 12-375 Responses due: June 30, 2022 By this Public Notice, the Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB) announces that the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) has approved the Commission’s Third Mandatory Data Collection in the Inmate Calling Services proceeding, and announces that the providers’ data collection responses are due on June 30, 2022. In the 2021 ICS Order, the Commission directed WCB and the Office of Economics and Analytics (OEA) (collectively, WCB/OEA) to develop a new data collection “related to [inmate calling services (ICS)] providers’ operations, costs, demand, and revenues.” Rates for Interstate Inmate Calling Services, WC Docket No. 12-375, Third Report and Order, Order on Reconsideration, and Fifth Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, 36 FCC Rcd 9519, 9618, para. 218 (2021) (2021 ICS Order). After seeking public comment, WCB and OEA Seek Comment on Upcoming Third Mandatory Data Collection for Inmate Calling Services, WC Docket No. 12-375, Public Notice, DA 21-1192 (WCB/OEA Sept. 22, 2021). WCB/OEA issued an order adopting instructions, a reporting template, and a certification form for the data collection. Rates for Interstate Inmate Calling Services, WC Docket No. 12-375, Order, DA 22-52 (WCB/OEA Jan. 18, 2022) (Mandatory Data Collection Order). The Commission submitted the collection to OMB under the Paperwork Reduction Act, and OMB approved the collection on March 1, 2022. In the 2021 ICS Order, the Commission specified that ICS providers’ responses to the data collection would be due 120 days after the release of this Public Notice. 2021 ICS Order, 36 FCC Rcd at 9622, para. 228; see also Mandatory Data Collection Order at para. 46. Accordingly, providers’ data collection responses are due by June 30, 2022.
