Federal Communications Commission DA 22-711 DA 22-711 Released: July 1, 2022 FCC ANNOUNCES JULY 22, 2022 VIRTUAL MEETING OF THE COMMUNICATIONS EQUITY AND DIVERSITY COUNCIL In accordance with the Federal Advisory Committee Act, 5 U.S.C. App. 2. this Public Notice announces the July 22, 2022, meeting of the Federal Communications Commission’s (Commission) Communications Equity and Diversity Council (CEDC or Council). Notice of this meeting was published in the Federal Register on June 17, 2022, available at https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2022/06/17/2022-13129/meeting-of-the-communications-equity-and-diversity-council.   The CEDC meeting will be held virtually, beginning at 10:00 a.m. EST, and will be available to the public for viewing via the Internet at http://www.fcc.gov/live. The agenda for the meeting will include a report of each of the CEDC working groups. This agenda may be modified at the discretion of the CEDC Chair and the Designated Federal Officer.   The Digital Empowerment and Inclusion Working Group will present a report including recommendations for addressing digital discrimination and other barriers that impact equitable access to broadband and other emerging technology in under-served and under-connected communities. The Innovation and Access Working Group will report on its activities to recommend solutions to reduce entry barriers and encourage ownership and management of media, digital, communications services and next-generation technology properties, and start-ups to encourage viewpoint diversity by a broad range of voices. The Diversity and Equity Working Group will report on its progress in examining how the FCC can affirmatively advance equity, civil rights, racial justice, and equal opportunity in the telecommunications industry to address inequalities in workplace employment policies and programs. Chairwoman Rosenworcel has appointed additional members of the Council. Mona Thompson, General Manager of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Telephone Authority has been appointed to serve as the representative of NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association; Rebecca Gibbons, Strategic Initiatives Manager, Office for Community Technology (OCT), City of Portland, Oregon, has been appointed to serve as the City of Portland, Oregon’s representative; Antonio Williams, Vice President, Government Affairs and Local Advocacy, Comcast, has been appointed to serve as Comcast’s Alternate Representative; Laura Berrocal, Vice President of Policy and External Affairs, Charter Communications, Inc., has been appointed to serve as Charter’s Alternate Representative; Richard Pallay Jr., Executive Vice President of Government Relations & External Affairs of the National Asian American Coalition, has been appointed to serve as the Alternate Representative for the National Diversity Coalition; Daniel Ball, Meta’s Public Policy Director, Global Connectivity and Access Policy Organization, has been appointed to serve as INCOMPAS’ Alternate Representative (Meta serves as a member company of INCOMPAS); Tsion Tesfaye, Research and Policy Manager, National Digital Inclusion Alliance (NDIA), has been appointed to serve as NDIA’s Alternate Representative. Additionally, several individuals are no longer participating in the CEDC, including Virginia Harris, National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc.; Milton Clipper, Clipper and Company (representing America’s Public Television Stations); Catherine Nicolaou, Sacred Wind Communications (representing NTCA – The Rural Broadband Association); and Dr. Fallon Wilson, Nashville Digital Inclusion Access Taskforce.    The CEDC meeting will be convened in an online format and will be available to the public via live feed from the FCC’s web page at www.fcc.gov/live.
