Federal Communications Commission DA 22-754 Released: July 13, 2022 WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU ANNOUNCES SEPTEMBER 13, 2022 WORKSHOP ON ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION REVIEW PROCEDURES The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau will host a workshop on the environmental compliance and historic preservation review process required for the construction of communications facilities supporting Federal Communications Commission (FCC) licensed services. The workshop will include information relevant to the construction of new communications towers and the collocation of communications equipment on existing towers and other structures, including requirements for Antenna Structure Registration.  The workshop will take place on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM EDT in the Commission Meeting Room at FCC Headquarters, 45 L Street NE, Washington, DC. It will also stream live via the FCC’s YouTube channel. At the workshop, FCC and other federal agency subject-matter experts will provide information on a range of topics related to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), and the FCC’s implementing regulations and related agreements.  FCC applicants (including licensees and registrants), those who construct or manage communications facilities for FCC licensees, environmental consultants, State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) staff and Tribal Historic Preservation Office (THPO) staff, and staff from federal agencies that fund or permit wireless facilities are encouraged to attend. Topics to be discussed at the workshop may include: recent changes to FCC environmental rules and procedures, coordination with Tribes during the NHPA process, compliance with the Endangered Species Act and Migratory Bird Treaty Act, and the FCC’s NEPA and NHPA compliance processes generally. The tentative agenda for the workshop will be posted prior to the event at http://www.fcc.gov/FCCenvironmentalworkshop/. Attendance. This workshop is open to the public. Due to health concerns brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, the workshop is scheduled to be held in a hybrid format to give attendees the option of participating either in-person or virtually. Participants must pre-register to attend in-person and to receive a link to the live-streamed event by submitting the participant’s name, affiliation, and whether the participant intends to attend in-person or virtually in an email to FCCenvironmentalworkshop@fcc.gov no later than September 5, 2022. Live event attendees are advised to bring a driver’s license or other valid identification and to arrive approximately 30 minutes prior to the start of the workshop to allow sufficient time to go through security.  Additional requirements related to visiting the FCC’s facility may be provided to in-person attendees after registration.  The workshop will be recorded and publicly available at https://www.fcc.gov/news-events/events/archived after the event.  In the event the FCC is required to modify the format of the workshop to a virtual event for all attendees due to health concerns, staff will notify all registered participants of any changes as early as possible.    Accessibility Information.
