 CHARGES FOR INCARCERATED PEOPLE’S COMMUNICATIONS SERVICES

	By this Public Notice, the Wireline Competition Bureau announces that comments in response to the Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on issues related to the Martha Wright-Reed Just and Reasonable Communications Act of 2022 (Act) are due no later than May 8, 2023, and reply comments are due no later than June 6, 2023. Incarcerated People’s Communications Services; Implementation of the Martha Wright-Reed Act; Rates for Interstate Inmate Calling Services, WC Docket Nos. 23-62, 12-375, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Order, FCC 23-19 (rel. Mar. 17, 2023) (Notice).  
  

The Notice, which seeks comment on matters related to implementing the new Act and establishing just and reasonable rates and charges for incarcerated people’s communications services, requires that comments and reply comments be filed no later than 30 days and 60 days after publication in the Federal Register. See id. at 1.  
  On April 7, 2023, the Federal Register published a summary of the Notice, establishing May 8, 2023, as the deadline for comments and June 6, 2023, as the deadline for reply comments. Federal Communications Commission, Rates for Interstate Inmate Calling Services, 88 Fed. Reg. 20804 (Apr. 7, 2023) (Federal Register Notice).
