COMMON CARRIER BUREAU TO HOLD EX PARTE MEETINGS 
ON WIRELINE PORTION OF ENHANCED 911 RULE MAKING
Industry-wide participation expected
The Common Carrier Bureau will hold ex. pane meetings concerning the wireline 
portion of the Commission's Enhanced 911 rulemaking proceeding. Revision of the 
Commission's Rules to Ensure Compatibility with Enhanced 911 Emergency Calling 
Systems, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, CC Docket No. 94-102, 9 FCC-Rcd 6170 
(1994) (E911 Notice). Representatives of a cross-section of commenters to the £977 
Notice are expected to speak. The meetings, scheduled for Thursday, September 19, and 
Friday, September 20, 1996 in the Commission Meeting Room (Rm 856, 1919 M Street 
N.W., Washington, D.C. 20554), will be from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. 
Organized by the Common Carrier Bureau, the meetings will allow state E911 
administrators, multi-line telephone systems (MLTS) owners and operators, PBX and key 
system manufacturers, and local exchange carriers to discuss public safety, technical and 
cost issues that have arisen in this proceeding.
Expected to speak are representatives from the Association of Public-Safety 
Communications Officials-International (APCO, Inc). the National Association of State 
911 Administrators (NASNA), the National Emergency Number Association (NENA), the 
Ad Hoc Telecommunications Users Committee (Ad Hoc) (including representatives from 
Ad Hoc members SABRE Group and Advantis), Lucent Technologies. Inc. (Lucent), 
Northern Telecom, Inc. (NorTel), Telident, Inc. (Telident), the Telecommunications 
Industry Association (TIA), the Multimedia Telecommunication Association (MMTA), 
Mitel Corp., Comdial Corp., Ameritech and NYNEX.
