WASHINGTON, D.C. 20554 News media information 202/418-0500 Fax-On-Demand 202/418-2830 Internet: http://www.fcc.gov ftp.fcc.gov DA 96-1976 CC Docket No. 94-102 Released: November 25, 1996 COMMON CARRIER BUREAU SEEKS COMMENT ON TEUDENT'S ENHANCED 911 PART 68 RECOMMENDATIONS On October 19,1994, the Commission released Revision of the Commission's Rules to Ensure Compatibility with Enhanced 911 Emergency Calling Systems, Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, CC Docket No. 94-102, 9 FCC Red 6170 (1994) (E911 Notice). The E911 Notice proposed rule0 that would require that dispersed multi-line telephone systems (MLTs) such as private branch exchanges (PBXs), key, and hybrid systems be compatible with £911 services. To effectuate broad availability of E911 and equipment compatibility, the E911 Notice proposed to amend Part 68 of the Commission's rules by adding technical performance requirements that would ensure the compatibility of MLTSs with enhanced 911 emergency services. In an October 30, 1996, ex parte filing, Telident submitted suggested changes to the Part 68 rules proposed in the E911 Notice such as modifying the proposed definitions of "Enhanced 9-1-1 emergency services trunk" and "Loop simulator circuit"; defining "Multi-frequency signaling" and "Network-Provided Reverse Battery"; and specifying signal power limitations for MF signaling and interface requirements for interconnection of a MLTS to an E911 network. We seek comment on the changes proposed by Telident in its ex parte filing. Interested parties may file comments on or before December 11, 1996. All filings should reference Telident Part 68 Ex Parte, CC Docket No. 94-102, and be filed with William F.
