On October 23, 1997, the Commission released a Notice of Inquiry (NOI) in this proceeding that invited interested parties to comment no later than December 1, 1997, and to reply to filings by other parties no later than December 15, 1997.' 3. PageNet cites the need for more time to more fully develop the issues associated with use of CPP in the paging industry, because of the emphasis in the NOI on broadband wireless services. PageNet also indicates that they are conducting a CPP trial in Chicago, Illinois, and 1 Calling Party Pays Service Option in the Commercial Mobile Radio Services, WT Docket No. 97-207, Notice of Inquiry, 62 FR 58700 (Oct. 30, 1997). 2 Calling Party Pays Service Option in the Commercial Mobile Radio Services, WT Docket No. 97-207, Request for Extension of Time To File Comments, Filed by the Rural Telecommunications Group (Nov. 20, 1997). 3 Calling Party Pays Service Option in the Commercial Mobile Radio Services, WT Docket No. 97-207, Motion for Extension of Time, Filed by Paging Network, Inc. (Nov. 21, 1997). 19710 need additional time to analyze the data from this test so they can provide meaningful comments to the Commission. 4. We agree with RTG and PageNet that a modest extension of the comment and reply comment deadlines would enable interested parties to provide more substantive and complete comments on the many issues associated with CPP. Therefore, we are persuaded that granting the requested extensions of the comment deadlines will provide an opportunity to enhance the overall quality of the comments and reply comments, and will provide a more complete record for consideration by the Commission. For these reasons, we conclude that extensions for filing comments and reply comments are hi the public interest. 5. Accordingly, IT IS ORDERED, pursuant to Section 1.46 of the Commission's Rules regarding the time for filing comments, 47 C.F.R. § 1.46, that the requests of Rural Telecommunications Group and Paging Network, Inc., ARE GRANTED to the extent indicated. 6. IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the comment deadline in the calling party pays proceeding IS EXTENDED to the close of business on December 16, 1997, and the reply comment deadline IS EXTENDED to the close of business on January 16, 1998.
