(BILL) KUNZE TO BECOME CHIEF OF THE COMMERCIAL WIRELESS DIVISION OF THE WIRELESS TELECOMMUNICATIONS BUREAU Thomas Sugrue, Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, has named Bill Kunze Chief of the Bureau’s Commercial Wireless Division. The Commercial Wireless Division is responsible for developing policy for use of radio spectrum for commercial wireless communications; licensing and settling disputes arising from use of such spectrum; and reviewing mergers and acquisitions involving such spectrum. Since June 1999, Kunze has served as a Deputy Chief of the Commercial Wireless Division. In that position Kunze has primarily handled merger review, build- out policy issues, and licensing/ policy matters. Previously Kunze was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, where his practice focused on strategies for growth in deregulating industries, including telecommunications and financial services. Kunze was also an associate at Steptoe & Johnson, with a regulatory and antitrust litigation practice which primarily focused on the electric power industry, including proceedings to deregulate the industry and create competitive markets for power sales. Kunze also served as law clerk to Chief Judge Gilbert Merritt on the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in Nashville, and as Acquisitions Editor and Assistant Manager at the University of Chicago Press, Journals Division. Kunze holds B. A. and J. D. degrees from Yale University and an M. A. from the University of Chicago. In addition, Kunze was a Fulbright fellow at the University of Bochum in Germany. -FCC- 1
