C. – Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released its annual Carrier Locator: Interstate Service Providers report. The report, which lists 4,822 companies report that provide interstate telecommunications services, provides an address and telephone number for each company and identifies whether the company reported revenue for local, wireless, payphone, operator and card, or other toll services. The report can be used by customers and other carriers to identify and locate sources of telecommunications service, by equipment vendors to identify potential customers, and by anyone seeking to locate a specific carrier. This report was compiled from FCC Form 499- A Telecommunications Reporting Worksheets, which are filed by virtually all telecommunications service providers. The filed worksheets are treated as proprietary and therefore are not available to the public. The report is available for reference in the FCC's Reference Information Center, Courtyard Level, 445 12th Street, SW, Washington, D. C. 20554.
