 LEVY  NAMED  ACTING  DEPUTY  CHIEF  ECONOMIST 


 Washington,  DC  --  Jonathan  D.  Levy  has  been  appointed  Acting 
 Deputy  Chief  Economist  of  the  Federal  Communications  Commission.  Dr. 
 Levy  has  been  a  senior  staff  economist  in  the  Office  of  Plans  and  Policy, 
 where  he  has  specialized  in  economic  analysis  of  mass  media,  cable  television, 
 and  satellite  television  issues.  He  has  also  assisted  in  the  design  and 
 implementation  of  the  Commission’s  spectrum  auctions,  in  particular  the  DBS 
 and  MMDS  auctions. 


 Dr.  Levy  joined  the  FCC  in  1980  and  has  spent  his  entire  Commission 
 career  in  the  Office  of  Plans  and  Policy.  Prior  to  joining  the  Commission,  he 
 taught  economics  at  the  University  of  Wisconsin-  Milwaukee.  Levy  holds  a 
 Ph.  D.  in  economics  from  Yale  University  and,  in  1993,  was  a  Fulbright  Senior 
 Scholar  at  the  University  of  Technology  Sydney,  Australia.
