 PRESS  STATEMENT  OF  COMMISSIONER  SUSAN  NESS  REGARDING  DESIGNATION  OF  MICHAEL  K.  POWELL 
 AS  FCC  CHAIRMAN 


 I  congratulate  Michael  Powell  on  his  designation  by  President  Bush  as  Chairman  of  the 
 Federal  Communications  Commission.  His  leadership,  intelligence,  character,  and  sense 
 of  humor  are  qualities  that  will  serve  him,  and  the  American  public,  well  as  he  guides  the 
 FCC  during  this  dynamic  time  of  progress  and  change.  He  has  been  a  great  colleague 
 during  the  past  three  years  and  I  look  forward  to  working  with  Chairman  Powell  as  we 
 address  the  challenging  communications  issues  facing  our  Nation.
