 Hughes  Communications,  Inc.  and  PanAmSat  Corporation 
 Clarification  of  File  Numbers  and  Call  Signs  for  Ka-  band  Satellite  Systems 


 The  Bureau  assigns  file  numbers  to  applications  for  administrative  purposes.  These  numbers  are  used  to 
 track  the  application,  related  pleadings  and  other  correspondence,  as  well  as,  actions  taken. 


 In  the  first  Ka-  band  processing  round,  Hughes  Communications  Galaxy,  Inc.  filed  applications  for  20 
 satellites  at  15  orbital  locations.  A  total  of  ten  file  numbers  and  call  signs  were  assigned  to  the  Hughes 
 applications.  In  Hughes  Communications,  Inc.  and  Affiliated  Companies  and  Anselmo  Group  Voting 
 Trust/  PanAmSat  Licensee  Corp.  and  Affiliated  Companies,  12  FCC  Rcd  7534  (1997),  seven  of  the  fifteen 
 orbital  locations  were  assigned  to  PanAmSat  Corporation.  For  ease  in  tracking  these  authorizations,  five 
 additional  file  numbers  and  call  signs  have  been  assigned  to  the  original  application  and  the  total  number  of 
 file  numbers  and  call  signs  are  being  divided  between  Hughes  and  PanAmSat  based  on  their  assigned 
 orbital  locations.  This  will  ease  identification  of  locations  assigned  to  Hughes  and  locations  assigned  to 
 PanAmSat. 


 The  following  list  sets  out  all  fifteen  file  numbers  and  call  signs  --  eight  for  Hughes  Communications,  Inc. 
 and  seven  for  PanAmSat  Corporation.  Each  file  number  and  call  sign  is  being  associated  with  a  given 
 orbital  location.  Any  future  correspondence  or  action  on  these  authorizations  should  include  both  the  file 
 number  and  the  call  sign,  as  listed  below.
