 STATEMENT  OF  MICHAEL  K.  POWELL  ON  RENOMINATION 
 TO  FEDERAL  COMMUNICATIONS  COMMISSION 


 I  am  gratified  by  the  confidence  President  Bush  has  indicated  in  my  tenure  as  Chairman 
 of  the  Federal  Communication  Commission  by  the  announcement  that  he  intends  to  renominate 
 me  for  a  second  Commission  term. 


 If  confirmed  by  the  Senate,  the  extension  of  my  term  beyond  next  June’s  expiration  date 
 will  provide  a  positive  and  helpful  continuity  to  the  important  work  that  I,  and  the  new 
 Commissioners  who  will  be  taking  office  later  this  year,  will  be  engaged  in. 


 I  dedicate  myself  to  working  with  the  administration,  Congress,  my  fellow 
 Commissioners  and  the  capable  FCC  staff  in  addressing  the  important  issues  facing  the 
 telecommunications  industries.
