FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: News Media Contact: July 2, 2001 Maureen Peratino: (202) 418- 0506 FCC REVISES ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION OF REGULATORY FEES FOR FISCAL YEAR 2001 Washington DC – The FCC is revising its Schedule of Regulatory Fees in order to collect $200,146,000, as required by Congress for Fiscal Year 2001. Section 9( a) of the Communications Act, as amended, authorizes the Commission to assess and collect annual regulatory fees to recover the costs of its enforcement, policy and rulemaking, international, and user information activities. The Report and Order identifies the fee amounts for each fee category. This information will be published in the Federal Register and will also be available on the FCC’s website at: www. fcc. gov/ fees/ regfees/ 2001regfees. Regulatory Fees are due during the period beginning September 10, 2001 and ending September 21, 2001, but licensees and permittees can submit their payment earlier than the due dates, if desired.
