Levy has been appointed Deputy Chief Economist of the Federal Communications Commission. Dr. Levy has served as Acting Deputy Chief Economist for the past six months and also has been a senior staff economist in the Office of Plans and Policy. Dr. Levy joined the FCC in 1980 and has spent his entire Commission career in the Office of Plans and Policy. He has specialized in economic analysis of mass media, cable television, and satellite television issues. Levy has also assisted in the design and implementation of the Commission’s spectrum auctions, in particular the DBS and MMDS auctions. Prior to joining the Commission, Levy taught economics at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee. He holds a Ph. D. in economics from Yale University and, in 1993, he was a Fulbright Senior Scholar at the University of Technology Sydney, Australia. - FCC - 1
