After a notice and comment period, the Federal Communications Commission adopted rules to close this reference room in a Report and Order (FCC 99- 45) released March 24, 1999. The Report and Order stated that the Gettysburg Reference Facility would close 90 days after all radio services licensed by the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) were converted to the Universal Licensing System (ULS). This conversion was completed on May 17, 2001. The Gettysburg Reference Facility was open to the public for research and duplication of applications and licenses in wireless telecommunications services, as well as petitions, waiver requests, and antenna tower site registrations. These items are now filed electronically, making the Gettysburg Reference Room obsolete. Users can easily find information concerning all WTB applications and licenses by accessing the ULS search capabilities (www. fcc. gov/ wtb/ uls). By remotely accessing the FCC wide area network from a PC, a user can search for and view all application and license data. Users may also access the Antenna Structure Registration Program and have several search options including ASR Query, ASR Filing, and TOWAIR. For further information regarding this Public Notice, contact Bill Cline, Director, Reference Information Center at (202) 418- 0267 or via e- mail at bcline@ fcc. gov. 1
