FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: News Media contact: September 13, 2001 Sam Feder at (202) 418- 2100 COMMISSIONER MARTIN APPOINTS CATHERINE CRUTCHER BOHIGIAN AS LEGAL ADVISOR Washington, DC -- Commissioner Kevin J. Martin announced today that he has appointed Catherine Crutcher Bohigian to serve as his Legal Advisor on cable and mass media issues. Before joining the Commission, Ms. Bohigian was an attorney at the law firm of Wiley, Rein and Fielding, where she advised communications clients on a variety of regulatory matters. Ms. Bohigian graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School, where she was the Articles Editor of the Journal on Legislation. While in law school, she assisted Massachusetts Governor William Weld’s Regulatory Review Team. Prior to law school, she served as a Legislative Analyst for Bellcore (now Telcordia Technologies) and as a Program Analyst for IBM Governmental Affairs. Ms. Bohigian earned her B. A. in Public Policy Studies, summa cum laude, from Duke University. In announcing Ms. Bohigian’s appointment, Commissioner Martin stated, “I am thrilled that Catherine has agreed to join my staff. She has tremendous intellect and a wealth of experience with the complex legal and policy issues we face at the Commission. I am confident that she will make a great contribution to the Commission.” Ms. Bohigian takes over the duties of David Brown, who served as a legal advisor in an interim capacity. Commissioner Martin stated, “I really appreciate David’s help in getting the office up and running. It was terrific of him to take a break from his job at the Mass Media Bureau to cover the time before Catherine could start.
